"Elizabeth Eiel as Gretel proved to be more than up to the task of bringing her character to life. She performed with utter conviction and certainty. Her phrasing and line were impeccable with bloom, roundness and firm tone throughout her register. Kudos and bravas to Ms. Eiel. She delivered performances that would easily be at home on any professional stage."

Elizabeth Eiel (soprano) an Iowa native, made her operatic debut at the young age of 10 in Des Moines Metro Opera's production of Boris Godnuov followed swiftly by the role of a ginger bread child in Humperdink's Hansel and Gretel. She has not looked back since.
Ms. Eiel has performed extensively throughout the New York metro area with American Singers Opera Project, Garden State Opera, Chelsea Opera, Bronx Opera, One World Symphony, and Opera Company of Brooklyn. Roles to her credit include Lady Billows in Benjamin Britten's Albert Herring with Bay View music festival in Bay View MI; Anna Gomez in Menotti's The Consul with Bronx Opera; and, to name just a few of the roles she has performed with One World Symphony under the baton of Sung Jin Hong she Donna Anna, Nannetta and Niece 2 in Benjamin Britten’s Peter Grimes. One of her favorite roles was in Brooklyn Repertory Opera's production of Susan Stoderl's new opera A.F.R.A.I.D. (As seen by Fanny Fern) playing Fanny Fern. She found much joy in playing Fanny for over 6 months a real woman at the head of the suffrage movement. Most recently she returned with great joy to BRO and her opera roots to sing Gretel in Hansel & Gretel.
Just as she loves to sing opera, musical theater, her first love always draws her back. With One World Symphony she made her New York City Town Hall debut singing Maria in West Side Story Suite #1 to a sold-out house. She was seen in Saint Jean's Players production of Of Thee I Sing and played Luella Crisp in Saint Jean's Players highly reviewed production of The Music Man. "The townswomen were wonderful and the combination of their "Pick-A-Little, Talk-A-Little" with the quartet's "Goodnight, Ladies" was terrific." - the off off Broadway review.
